Sign-on to IAE letter on Association Health Plans Proposed Rule

The “I Am Essential” coalition, representing hundreds of patient groups and their allies, has prepared draft comments for organizational sign-on to the U.S. Department of Labors’ Association Health Plan proposed rule.  The letter outlines the impact the proposed changes would have on health insurance coverage and patient access to affordable care and treatment. This proposed rule was directed by the Trump Administration’s executive order to promote more healthcare choices for consumers.  Unfortunately, in doing so it would come at the expense of many of the consumer protections our patients rely on as part of their quality, comprehensive care, and increase the risk of fraud by poorly regulated plans.

We encourage your organization to sign onto the comment letter to demonstrate to the Department of Labor and the Administration the breadth of support from the patient community for maintaining strong patient protections.

In order to sign on, please fill out this form  by 5pm noon, Monday, March 5, 2018.

Please feel free to distribute this letter to your networks.  If you need any assistance, please contact Stephanie Hengst at
